I've been getting all sorts of error messages, and I think I need to increase the number of files the system can have open. Mar 30 18:07:22 horst /kernel: file: table is full Mar 30 18:07:22 horst syslogd: /var/run/utmp: Too many open files in system or Mar 30 18:07:25 horst /kernel: file: table is full Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv0: Too many open files in system Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv1: Too many open files in system Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv2: Too many open files in system Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv0: Too many open files in system Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv1: Too many open files in system Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv2: Too many open files in system Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv0: Too many open files in system Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv1: Too many open files in system Mar 30 18:07:25 horst syslogd: /dev/ttyv2: Too many open files in system The machine is running 2.1R, though I'd consider upgrading to stable. So, just what do I need to do under FreeBSD? Am I correct that this means that the global number of files needs to be increased?
