Yeah, I fixed it by changing "ifconfig_xl0" to "ifconfig_bge0" in /etc/rc.conf.
It originally had an /etc/start_if.bge0 but I cut/pasted a template from
another freebsd.org machine and forgot about the xl0 part.  Silly me.
