After you do `term' you're talking directly to your modem.  You should be
able to use the AT commands.  For instance, to dial, type ATDT 555-5555
where you replace 5's with your ISP's number.

If that isn't working and your modem is connected to COM2 (sio1), then at
the ppp> prompt type `set device /dev/cuaa1' and then try `term'.
