Have you solved the problem? Can you do a fsck after you boot and insert the fixit floppy? What does 'disklabel -r {disk}' show? Look at http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/handbook126.html. There are some ideas there. At the 'Enter pathname of shell or return for sh', what happens if you enter '/bin/sh'?
