It looks almost exactly like what I've been saying for ages we should have in the base instead of a heavyweight MTA. "It accepts mails from locally installed Mail User Agents (MUA) and delivers the mails either locally or to a remote destination. Remote delivery includes several features like TLS/SSL support and SMTP authentication." On the subject of host/dig/nslookup. We had an old 'host' and 'nslookup' that were replaced with bind's heavyweight versions. Perhaps those could be revived and refreshed?
