Subject:   Odd glitch in file editing

I've got an annoying problem with 2.2.7-RELEASE.  Seems that sometimes
when editing a file (vi, nvi, pico, joe, whatever) the file ends up with a
varying number of capital U's at the start of the file.

Any idea why?
