 It's currently set to 'auto-detect' in the BIOS.  I don't know what
 the result of this is (I only have the dmesg output at hand w/o
 rebooting), but this is the dmesg output:

 Why would setting this to 'NORMAL' make a difference to these
 transient lockups?
