For the record: I have Compaq's JDK 1.3 running on an Alpha linux machine.

Linux 2.2.21 alpha

$ java -version
java version "1.3.1"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition
Classic VM (build 1.3.1-1, native threads, jit)
