Aesthetics aside, I don't think there's any difference between the contents of either one. Both are gzipped tars. Why not straight away zip? The zip command can only compress one file, hence the need to tar up the files you want into compress. If you open up a tgz or a tar.gz file under windows with winrar, you'll see that the file has a .tar file in it, which must be ultimately extracted to get at the files you want. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGPfreeware 7.0.3 for non-commercial use <http://www.pgp.com> iQA/AwUBPHnSGRY2HTS0XwU2EQI98ACgnDrVITMzZdnUneT2BGFUSWhEtN4AoJiz zupIt2FCGPSQDoPyCOrUhqRP =OsSG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
