Mah >Organization: Sandia National Laboratories >Release: FreeBSD 2.2.7-RELEASE i386 >Environment: >Description: A few suggestions (mostly editorial) for the content on http://www.freebsd.org/ports/index.html, presented here in a naive hope of trying to reduce the number of FAQs resulting from out-of-date bsd.port.mk files. >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: In the paragraph that begins with "If you are a 2.2.1-release user...": 1. Add new text before first sentence, to read: "The ports listed on these Web pages are continually being updated. Consequently, you may need to update a few files on your FreeBSD system to make use of ports developed after your version of FreeBSD was released. If you are a 2.2.1-release user..." The intent is to make the rationale for grabbing the new bsd.*.mk files more clear. 2. Change occurrences of "2.2.X to 2.2-stable upgrade kit" to "2.2.X to 2.2-stable ports upgrade kit", for appropriate values of X. Reinforces a later sentence that these kits do not upgrade the entire OS, just enough to use the ports. >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
