hello,
           i have installed rhel5,Debian Gnu/Linux,FreeBsd6.2, on the 
same hard disk. Try installing  rhel5 on the current rhel4 partition. i 
have done that and i never had to format FreeBSD  every time i install 
Gnu/Linux.
