So you have e.g. "mergemaster -E" which keeps the user's environment,
and otherwise sanitize it.  Mergemaster strikes me as something critical
enough that you *really* want a known toolchain when it's running; it
would be Bad if (say) the difference between FreeBSD "ln" and GNU "ln"
caused mergemaster to break things if it ran the wrong one.
