Another, lesser, possibility is that the 9ZX UltraStar is really an LVD drive running in SE mode. I've had mail-order companies ship me LVD drives when I've ordered plain F/W SCSI drives (I've ordered plain F/W UltraStar 9ES drives, but received LVD UltraStar 9ES drives instead). The difference is that LVD drives running in SE mode need an external terminator. Look for the white label on the drive. My LVD UltraStar 9ES drive has an "lvd" marking in the lower-right quadrant, and, if you have an LVD drive, you may see a similar one. -- Darryl Okahata darrylo@sr.hp.com DISCLAIMER: this message is the author's personal opinion and does not constitute the support, opinion, or policy of Hewlett-Packard, or of the little green men that have been following him all day.
