 Just F.Y.I. - I regularly use a Wangtek 5150ES (External SCSI) with
no problems.  You should be reading/writing to/from /dev/rst0 for the
SCSI variant.

 You may just be using the wrong device name.

 Now, I'm not sure you're connecting this to the SCSI side of things;
since you mention a QIC-02.  I wasn't aware you could put a 5150 on
anything but SCSI.
