            Bug ID: 197411
Summary: Handbook says "Xorg needs HAL" which is not true on
                    10.1
           Product: Documentation
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Many People
          Priority: ---
         Component: Documentation
          Assignee: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: dr.klepp@gmx.at

The handbook says in "6.5.2. Configuring Xorg":

By default, Xorg uses HAL to autodetect keyboards and mice.

This is not true for FreeBSD 10.1, Xorg autoconfiguration works without HAL for
keyboards and mice.

$ pkg info xorg-server
[...]
Options :
         DEVD : on
         HAL : off
         SUID : on
