-- Apologies for the format of my earlier post --

With reference to my earlier problem,=20
( =
http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=3D1494986+0+archive/2000/fre=
ebsd-stable/20001105.freebsd-stable )
I did everything that I could think of, plus variations, to no avail.

I decided to re-install the machine using 4.1-RELEASE CD (the host was =
merely running BIND services only, hence minimal fuss)

The host looked A-OK

CVSUP's the latest source trees, and issued the routine make buildworld, =
make buildkernel KERNEL=3DGENERIC, make installkernel KERNEL=3DGENERIC, =
make installworld, and mergemaster -a -d
Rebooted
Failed to Mount Root again :(

This time with the message:
ad0: mounting root ufs:ad0s1a
ad0s2: disk has no label
kernel panic follows

Which leads me to the following conclusion: Is the ATAPI devices support =
broken?
