hi, i know, this is not interested in this list directly. When newsyslog rotate my /var/log/messages file, named stops. Here is related line in /etc/newsyslog.conf: /var/log/messages root.wheel 640 7 12000 * Z if named doesnt work, i check it by 'cat /var/log/messages'.
