Possibly completely unrelated, but I've been wondering about that 'ATA(PI?) identify retries exceeded' message. I get it with every reboot on a number of Compaq Proliant machines. It might be perfectly harmless, the thing works, and if it didn't I wouldn't care either. The only IDE devices in the things are CD-ROMS which are never used. Any idea what the message means, and how I could get rid of it? Attached is the dmesg.boot from one of the machines. Note that ATAPI/CAM is disabled, but I'm willing to try with it enabled if it would help debugging. Thanks! - Philip -- Philip Paeps Please don't CC me, I am philip@paeps.cx subscribed to the list.
