Actually, I believe that's to be expected.  The ISO-8859-1 code points
and the first 256 Unicode code points are the same.

You should be able to confirm by checking that you can produce the
currency symbol, diaeresis, broken bar, and currency symbol.
(If they don't get mangled by email: =C2=A4 =C2=A8 =C2=A6 =C2=B8 )
