Dear Scott,

I see your point. Maybe the proprietary driver provided by HP for Window and
Linux is using some other undocumented way in order to grab those hidden
device, who knows?

Anyway, I think what you suspect about the hw.ciss.expose_hidden_physical is
really highly likely coz I have tried to probe the device by using the devfs
rescan and input the lun address directly, whereby OS simply create another
/dev/sa device driver which is also a tape drive device.

For the function ciss_filter_physical(), I think I may not have the time and
experience in helping it out by writing a program. Let me know if you have
any working command/utility or scripts so that it help print out the entire
inventory. Coz I do want to help the community to grow so as to possibly
work around this problem. With that more people can adopt FreeBSD more
easily. The server, which loaded up with Centos Now, is going to be deployed
as production environment really soon while I still have some time to play
around with it. Just let me know if anything useful that you would like me
to help to collect.

Rgds,
Frank
