Try asking on freebsd-questions or freebsd-mobile mailing lists.

I'm not at all familiar with laptops so I can't begin to guess
what might be the issue.  I had an old 200Mhz box that I couldn't
get the CD-ROM to boot Sysinstall but booting with floppies and
using the CD-ROM as the installation media too care of that one.
