  Have you tried reinstalling from the ports since you upgraded to
4-stable?  I just upgraded my kernel about 1 week ago and the install of
xfstt from the ports works fine.  I also use a script in
/usr/local/etc/rc.d, but I also copied the fonts into the TrueType
directory of my freebsd slice.
