I assume you are talking about the locore.s code during bootstrap.

It doesn't look like a hard fix, to me.

FreeBSD doesn't exactly do what it says its doing in that code.

Your best bet might be Bruce Evans, since he is familiar with that
code (having wedged a debugger in there), and he has commit
priviledges to the FreeBSD source tree.
