Using FreeBSD as a multimedia workstation and very happy with it. There are still a few shortcomings though, like missing MIDI recording (not playback) functionality and no support for my Pinnacle DC10+ Zoran video capture card; but if I need that, I'd just dual-boot into gentoo (which *does* feel a lot like FreeBSD from an admin POV and the main reason I picked that distro, just to feel more at home), do whatever is needed, and then reboot into FreeBSD.
