Yes,
but when I did an apachectl configtest, it barfed.
Likewise apachectl start barfed.  Remove the two
lines you referred to, and it passes and starts.

so, right now they are not in the httpd.conf file.

Did you add the following to your Apache configuration file:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
