Thank you very much for taking the time to reply, Kevin!
OK to confirm I've cleaned up, and nothing might conflict=2E Here's what
I have:
# pkg info | grep drm
libdrm-2=2E4=2E99,1 Userspace interface to kernel Direct Renderi=
ng Module services
# pkg info | grep mesa
mesa-dri-18=2E3=2E2_9 OpenGL hardware acceleration drivers for DRI=
2+
mesa-libs-18=2E3=2E2_4 OpenGL libraries that support GLX and EGL cl=
ients

Following your advice, I pkg install drm-fbsd12=2E0-kmod-4=2E16=2Eg20200221
ensure I have the module kld_listed in rc=2Econf(5)=2E Bounce the box, and it
locks up with a trap 9=2E

So I pkg delete drm-fbsd12=2E0-kmod-4=2E16=2Eg20200221; comment the kld_list line
bounce the box=2E Try a different route; pkg install drm-kmod which results i=
n
drm-fbsd12=2E0-kmod: 4=2E16=2Eg20200221
drm-kmod: g20190710

bounce the box; again, trap 9=2E
I'm booting efi, if that makes a difference=2E So all I seem to be able to
safely load is drm-legacy-kmod=2E Which no-longer seems to be compatible with
X and friends=2E I don't know how you do it=2E But thank your lucky stars=2E :)

Thanks again!
