Does this make us the de facto maintainers of this old version of DB?  I 
can't imagine importing a newer version, even ignoring any license issues, 
due to the fact that it would make libc a /lot/ larger.

There are probably tons of bugs never found and fixed in this version that 
never will be, but have been fixed in 2.x or 3.x.
