Exactly which version of FreeBSD are we talking about? Would you
please tell me.

In addition, description on your motherboard, CPU, keyboard and
PS/2 mouse will be useful too.

I don't think upgrading XFree86 will make any difference as far as
keyboard and PS/2 mouse input is concerned.
