Why can't it open the de0?

#sniffit -F de0 -t ip-address
Forcing device to de0 (user requested)...
Make sure you have read the docs carefully.
Couldn't open device.

#ifconfig de0
de0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        inet ip-address netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 255.255.255.0
        ether 00:00:c0:67:40:01
