Since you're going to drag this out into the open instead of privately
mailing me: no, I don't consider Will to be outside my mentorship in the
src/ tree.

So its a medal? Can I be Sr. MAINTAINER or does it go on to Lt. MAINTAINER?

The work can be done with or without the shiny badge and the work isn't
hindered by someone else going in and fixing bugs. There is no reason
for a maintainer for make(1).
