By the way, you have over 3,200 applications (editors, graphics, math,=20 http, ftp, mail, networking, ...) at your disposal in the=20 ports/packages system: the concept of "necessity" depends decidedly on=20 what you are going to do with your FreeBSD box. If you state your needs more precisely, somebody in this list will be=20 able to give you excellent advice. You can begin by having a look at pkg_add(1) and ports(7), as well as=20 at the excellent FreeBSD handbook in the meantime.
