Looks like.  I think the "larger problem" described there is just a
step people need to remember to do when adding a slave port
(i.e. explicitly override all version variables).  It can probably be
encoded in portlint.

P.S. I don't know why I thought trevor was partly responsible for
this, so I'll apologise publicly and take back that pointy hat for
