Right. It's also not possible to move to gpt in existing installations 
where it is impossible (or impractical) to wipe the disk and start over 
again. Thanks for summarizing, and confirming my concerns.

Fortunately, Alexander has already committed a transition mechanism that 
should be transparent to the vast majority of our users. That will give 
us until 10.0 to adopt a sane labeling scheme.
