This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_003F_01C12C2B.6244B390 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable HI all, thanks to all who replied. After reading the archives, I found a few notes that 2.0.8 was not too = good with Win2k and as most of the boxes accessing the server are win2k = boxes I have updated to 2.2.0, in the hope it would fix the problem. = bellow is what I have found sofar, as it is still not working. It appears that the nmbd service is not running ??? I have SWAT running and it shows smbd running but not nmbd The output of a ps -axww |grep bd : 14832 ?? Is 0:00.02 smbd -D 14834 ?? Ss 0:00.09 nmbd -D In the log.smbd I get multiples of the following message : [2001/08/23 14:42:45, 0] smbd/oplock.c:init_oplocks(1204) open_oplock_ipc: Failed to get local UDP socket for address 100007f. = Error was Can't assign requested address IF I do a netstat -an I see the following : tcp4 0 0 *.139 *.* = LISTEN udp4 0 0 192.168.0.1.138 *.* udp4 0 0 192.168.0.1.137 *.* udp4 0 0 *.138 *.* udp4 0 0 *.137 =20 Just the relevant ports (192.168.0.1 is my server) Here is my smb.conf : # Samba config file created using SWAT # from wskatinka.kat.lan (192.168.0.254) # Date: 2001/08/23 15:14:16 # Global parameters [global] workgroup =3D NETWORK1 interfaces =3D ed0 [homes] read only =3D No So I am still scratching my head, it looks like nmbd is not running even = though it has a PID, any ideas appreciated ???
