...in contrast, aviplay from avifile-0.6.0.20011220_1,1 does not
have any problem playing the very same file.

try to build package w/ above specified options.

i can't say which file won't be played by aviplay from v0.7.

not a fix, may not be a workaround: provide version 0.6 port somehow in the
meantime.
