Hi,
I've just got a new computer with a Vibra 128 pci soundcard & FreeBSD
4.0 won't work with it (works fine under Win98).
My kernel has device pcm in it (which worked for my old scound card
in my old computer).
I get the following:
 % dmesg |grep pcm
pcm0: <AudioPCI ES1371> at device 11.0 on pci0
pcm0: unable to map register space
device_probe_and_attach: pcm0 attach returned 6

& I have the following devices:
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,   2 Apr 25 21:49 midi0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,  18 Apr 25 21:41 midi1
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root  wheel         6 Apr 25 21:49 mixer -> mixer0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,   0 Apr 25 21:49 mixer0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,  16 Apr 25 21:41 mixer1
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root  wheel         6 Apr 25 21:49 audio -> audio0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,   4 Apr 25 21:49 audio0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,  20 Apr 25 21:41 audio1
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root  wheel         4 Apr 25 21:49 dsp -> dsp0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,   3 Jun 10 23:17 dsp0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,  19 Apr 25 21:41 dsp1
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root  wheel         5 Apr 25 21:49 dspW -> dspW0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,   5 Apr 25 21:49 dspW0
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   30,  21 Apr 25 21:41 dspW1

typing mixer gives
% mixer
mixer: /dev/mixer: Device not configured

I also tried using device snd in my kernel (instead of pcm) & got:

% zcat /var/log/messages.0.gz | grep sbc
Jun 14 21:57:17 thumper /kernel: sbc0: <ESS ES1868> at port
0x220-0x22f,0x388-0x38b,0x300-0x301 irq 9 drq 1,0 on isa0
Jun 14 21:57:17 thumper /kernel: pcm0: <SB DSP 3.01 (ESS mode)> on sbc0
but still got the same error with mixer & no sound.

Can anyone help?

Cheers
Ian Moore
