"Your driver"?  I thought this was the FreeBSD project's driver.

Agreed.  That's why I suggest that it should be fixed.  If it's
apparent to somebody, and it's getting in the way of their code, then
they get to fix it.  They don't just commit their code and make
matters even worse.
