I hate it to be the `bad' guy of the affair, but if I recall it
correctly, it was a few days ago that someone pointed out that a new
kernel will always(?) work with an old world.  The reverse however is
not true.  So building and booting a new kernel is probably the right
thing to do after cvsup.
