whenever i run anything that perl is used for i get the following message:

perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
        LC_ALL = (unset),
        LANG = "us"
    are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").

is this something that needs to be fixed or is it a known thing.
im using 3.0 RELEASE
