Mick,

	Try something like this in /etc/rc.conf
ifconfig_wi0="inet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask 255.255.255.xxx ssid SOMESSID 
wepmode on wepkey 0xXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Where SOMESSIS is the name of your WAP and
where the 0xXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is the wep key (128 in this case)
