Are you using the PC/X or the PCX/i? If it's the PC/X (no daughterboards), they work *great* (that's *all* we've used since 1987!). For kernel config, look in FreeBSD Handbook, section 10.4.3.2. As for the Digiboard documentation, there were two booklets distributed with each board, the "Operating Manual" (what you need), and the "Comware and Communications Manual" (Useless). If you need the "Operating Manual", let me know, and I'll ship you a .gif'd copy. If all you want is a quickie setup guide, here's how to config for 0x100 to 0x138, IRQ7: Port Base DipSW # Addy # DIPSW Settings 01 0x100 DS2 on off on on on on on on 02 0x108 DS3 on off on on on on off on 03 0x110 DS4 on off on on on off on on 04 0x118 DS5 on off on on on off off on 05 0x120 DS6 on off on on off on on on 06 0x128 DS7 on off on on off on off on 07 0x130 DS8 on off on on off off on on 08 0x138 DS9 on off on on off off off on Be sure to turn the status port switches completely off. JUMPERS: BOARD 0 Identification: J9: 2/3 J10: 2/3 IRQ7 Select: J87 IRQ6 Select: J88 (You need this even if you are NOT using it! It will NOT interfere with anything - don't worry:) These boards can be cascaded as well, so that you can have more than one. Digiboard claims you can have up to 4, we have actually used 8 boards, BUT, you will need some SERIOUS cooling if you go over 4 boards! NOTE that we use the lpt interrupt: It is a Good Idea not to have lpt services on a dialup host (IMHO, YMMV). Let me know if you need anything more! J.A. Terranson sysadmin@mfn.org P.S.: If you decide you dont want that board, let me know - I'll take it in a heartbeat! -----Original Message----- From: Sloan, Kyle [SMTP:ksloan@datatimes.com] Sent: Friday, June 05, 1998 9:44 AM To: 'freebsd-questions@freebsd.org' Subject: Digi PC/X Installation Woes We just bought a Digi PC/X board, 8 ports with 16550 UARTs. Digi's documentation, both supplied and electronic, leaves quite a bit to be desired. We want to use this for a dial-in application. No dial-out is necessary. We are running this on FreeBSD-2.2.6. Can anyone give me a step-by-step of what it takes to get the card installed & running? Things like definitions in the kernel config, changes to files in /etc, and such. - Kyle To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
