when i boot squid, i get 2 squid processes.
they have the same arguments and consecutive id's.
the first process seems to be sleeping (mostly),
which makes perfect sense,
and the second is marked runnable
and seems to be grinding.
only the first id appears in /var/run/squid.pid.
so naturally, when i run "squid -k shutdown",
only the first process is killed.
this happens identically if i start it directly
with "squid" or with "RunCache".
strangely, squid seems to work fine if i nuke the second process by
hand.
????

please tell me i'm missing something
really stupid here!

it's Squid 2.4.STABLE1 on FreeBSD3.5.1.

thanks.
