Mat,

Have you modified /etc/ssh/sshd_config to allow this? The default
changed with OpenSSH and you now need to explicitly un-comment the
lines:
X11Forwarding yes
X11DisplayOffset 10

and "ForwardX11 yes" in ssh_config (or put your own config file in
your .ssh directory).
