I have yet to use my new SCSI cdrom, but the boot message is:
cd0: <PLEXTOR CD-ROM PX-4XCS 1.01> Removable CD-ROM SCSI2 device 

...

I just tried my drive with a CD, I find this works:
mount -t cd9660 /dev/cd0a /mnt
