>Number: 3162 >Category: kern >Synopsis: 2.2 kernel from mar 25th crashes on nfs server >Confidential: no >Severity: serious >Priority: high >Responsible: freebsd-bugs >State: open >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Tue Apr 1 02:10:02 PST 1997 >Last-Modified: >Originator: Heikki Suonsivu >Organization: Clinet, Espoo, Finland >Release: FreeBSD 2.2-RELEASE i386 >Environment: NFS server with 3940, 64M, 1*1.7G micropolis + 3*4G seagate hawk. No tagged queueing or memory io used (no AHC options). >Description: Going from 8th march kernel to 25th march kernel made the system very unstable (three crashes last night). These seem to be load related. NFS or SCSI are the primary suspects. March 8th kernel was reliable. None of the crashes produced a dump. >How-To-Repeat: It seems that I managed to get two crashes by saving a 22M file from emacs. Emacs probably does one 22M write(2) to accomplish this. >Fix: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted:
