make sure your kernel config contains something along the lines of  
this (you'll need opensolaris and zlib in addition to zfs as it  
depends on those):

makeoptions    MODULES_OVERRIDE="zfs opensolaris zlib"

if it still refuses to build, this patch may help as a quick hack (a  
proper fix may be more appropriate):
