I tired the newest modules from CPAN, the same thing.

But after a couple of minutes searching trough the .c I found that
removing the "SHUTDOWN_DEFAULT" from the following line:

           result = mysql_shutdown(sock, SHUTDOWN_DEFAULT);

does the trick.
