getting lately.  The first serial port is recognised, but the second
is not.  I have an unconfirmed report from my partner that the
addition of a serial port board does not fix the problem (ie... ports
still not recognised).

        I could accept this as bad hardware except for the fact that
telix running from a bootable dos floppy (a trusty friend of ours) has
no problems accessing the ports to drive a modem

	I have even tried setting the bios to different ports to get
them to show up --- no dice.  Here is a copy of the kernel's -v config
