The problem may be related to interrupt handling and/or timekeeping.

1) Do you run ntpd there? If yes, show contents of /var/db/ntpd.drift. If n=
ot,
start it, make sure it synced time successfully (ntpq -np), wait an hour and
show /var/db/ntpd.drift.

2) Show output of sysctl kern.timecounter and sysctl kern.eventtimer comman=
ds.
If kern.eventtimer.periodic is 0, set it to 1 and repeat your tests and post
results.

3) Show output of "grep irq /var/run/dmesg.boot" for 12.0 and use 11.2 live
boot media (flash stick or CD/DVD) and repeat "grep irq /var/run/dmesg.boot=
",
save output and post it too.
