Hello;

I am trying to access a MySQL server remotely (the server is running on
the FreeBSD machine:
   FreeBSD key.relia.net 4.6.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.6.2-RELEASE #0: Wed Aug
14 21:23:26 GMT 2002
murray@builder.freebsdmall.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC  i386

Now, here's the problem. On telnet'ing to localhost using port 3306,
the server responds with the version (3.23.52-log) and some encryption data.

 From a remote machine, I don't even hear back from the MySQL daemon.
Now, that doesn't strike me as a good thing. We do not have the
firewall enabled, so ipfw shouldn't have an effect.

If we replace the 3306 port number with a perl server, I can hear back
from it all the time. Can someone please extend a pointer on how to set
up the MySQL in BSD so we can see it off-server? Please respond to
makosharktooth@netzero.net as I am not a member of this list.

Joe
